Connecting the DUT Power Supply Cables
Connecting the Power and GPIB Cables
Plug the DUT Power Supply’s power cord (8120-5244)
into the nearest power outlet box, with the proper
voltage, in the testhead or support bay. In the 79000, the
power outlet for the DUT power supplies is at the rear of
the pod. The power outlet boxes in the Series I, Series
II/3 testhead shipped prior to June 1999 do not always
have the same voltage. Each outlet box is marked with
its voltage. The recommended location to plug in DUT
power supplies varies with the system type and system
power option. The
Repair Manuals, Chapter 1,
"Troubleshooting" contains tables which show desired
the desire location to plug in DUTS for load balancing
for all system types and power options. The
Site Prep
Manual, Appendix B, "Power Reduction Conversion"
has diagrams showing the same information for Series 3
systems shipped after June 1999.
Add GPIB cables (8120-3444) by connecting them to
existing supplies. The DUT supplies handshake faster
than most other devices on the bus. If they are cabled
directly to the controller, the glitches they generate can
cause GPIB timeout errors.
NOTE
In 3070 systems, the DUT Power Supply GPIB
cables must be at the end of the GPIB cable string
(see
Figure 36 on page 70) to prevent GPIB
timeout errors.
In 79000 systems, due to the E1421A VXI
mainframe being on the GPIB bus, the DUT
power supplies can be connected as shown.
