Current probes
Current probes sense the current
flowing through a conductor and
convert it to a voltage that can
be viewed and measured on an
oscilloscope. Agilent current
probes use a hybrid technology
that includes a Hall-effect sensor,
which senses the DC current,
and a current transformer, which
senses the AC current. Using split
core construction, the current
probe easily clips on and off of a
conductor, making it unnecessary
to make an electrical connection
to the circuit. Measurement
bandwidths from DC to 100 MHz
are available.
